About Knob Creek
Following the end of the American Revolutionary War, Johannes Reginald Beam emigrated from Germany to the United States and eventually settled in Kentucky County. At the time, Kentucky County was still considered part of Virginia, and was overseen by a military governor named John J. Bowman. After settling in Kentucky, Beam began harvesting corn and set forth a family tradition by distilling the excess grains he harvested into whiskey. Since then, seven generations of the Beam family have been involved in whiskey production for the eponymous company (the company is actually named after James Beam, who rescued it following Prohibition).Knob Creek Bourbon was created by Beam’s grandson, Booker Noe, who after joining the family business in 1950 was promoted to Master Distiller just ten years later. Booker talked like a true Kentuckian and was known for his contagious personality, and through his launch of the "Small Batch Bourbon Collection" — the collection includes Knob Creek as well as Basil Hayden’s, Booker’s, and Baker’s bourbons — he is often credited a s the father of the small-batch bourbon movement.
Knob Creek Bourbon takes its name from the small water source, Knob Creek, that ran through President Abraham Lincoln’s childhood farm. Booker’s vision for Knob Creek Bourbon was that of an honest, quality bourbon that could meet the standards — strength, flavor, care, and patience — of bourbon made before prohibition distressed the industry just decades earlier. About Lagavulin
Situated on the banks of Lagavulin Bay on the island of Islay, Lagavulin Distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. Distilling took place on the banks of Lagavulin Bay as early as 1742, and by the turn of the century, there were as many as ten illicit stills operating in the area. In 1816, John Johnson founded the first legal distillery on the site, and within a year Archibald Campbell had opened a second. After Johnson's death, Alexander Graham acquired Johnston's distillery for £1,100 and eventually united the two distilleries together under the Lagavulin name. Since that time, the rich, peaty water that runs down the brown burn and through the Solan Lochs into the hills just next to Lagavulin Bay has served as the lifeblood of the distillery.Lagavulin is known as one of the most intense, smoky single malt whiskies ever made — the peated barley used to create Lagavulin Single Malt has up to twenty times as much exposure to peat smoke as compared to typical Scotches. Once the grains used to craft Lagavulin Whisky have been harvested and malted, they are dried over a peat and gas fire calibrated specifically to produce Lagavulin's signature, bold flavor profile. Then, the grains are milled and mashed before being fermented for approximately 72 hours. Following fermentation, the whisky is distilled twice — first through a wash still for approximately five hours and then again through a spirit distill for approximately nine hours. This is the slowe st distillation process of any Islay distillery, giving Lagavulin its characteristic round flavors and mellow edges.

About Laphroaig 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Situated on the southern coast of Islay, Laphroaig (pronounced La-froyg) Distillery was founded nearly two centuries ago by Donald and Alexander Johnston. The distillery derives its name from the ancient Gaelic word "lag"(meaning hollow) and the ancient Norse word "vik" (meaning bay), which refers to its location on the shores of Loch Laphroaig.In 1836, Donald Johnston offered his brother £350 for his interests the distillery, and ultimately became the sole proprietor of Laphroaig Distillery. For over a century, the distillery would remain in the hands of one of Johnston's descendants. In 1954, however, Ian Hunter passed away childless and bequeathed the distillery to Bessie Williamson, a secretary that had been working at the distillery for two decades. Hunter was incredibly protective of the distillery — while he slowly revealed its secrets to Williamson after she had earned his trust, Hunter prevented a cooper who was employed at the distillery from publishing his memoirs because they described the workings of the distillery in too great a detail.
Laphroaig Single Malt Whisky is one of the most flavorful and intense whiskies made anywhere in the world. During Prohibition, it was one of the few whiskies still legally imported into the United States, as it was considered a medicinal spirit. Laphroaig Single Malt is made from the finest Scottish barley, which is then malted at the distillery and smoked over a peat flame. Unlike other distilleries which source peat from the Scottish mainland, the peat used to smoke Laphroaig barley is made of from the heather, mosses and lichens of Islay and adds a distinct iodine-like flavor to the whisky.
After the barley has been malted and peated, it is fermented before being twice-distilled through Laphroaig's copper-pot stills. The unique stills have an usually flat base and flat surfaces, which lends to the overall intensity of the whisky. After the whisky has been distilled, it is aged in seasoned oak barrels, which are re-charred prior to being filled. The re-charring process caramelizes the remaining sugars in the barrel, and adds slightly sweet notes of vanilla and nutty dough to the whisky.
Originally launched in the 1980s, Laphroaig 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky quickly became a fan favorite, with popularity culminating in 2000 when it was chosen by the Prince of Wales for the “Erskine Charity Bottling”. While the 15 year old expression was eventually replaced by Laphroaig’s now-standard 18 year old, in honor of the distillery’s bicentennial in 2015, Laphroaig has re released a special 200th Anniversary Edition of the Laphroaig 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
Crafted in the exact same fashion as it was 30 years ago, Laphroaig 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky has an initial aroma of mint and grapefruit, as well as saltwater, peat smoke and apple orchards. On the palate, the whisky is dry and peppery, with touches of leather and tobacco leading to a mellow finish that’s underpinned by subtle notes of peat, almonds and dates.

Ledaig 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
About Ledaig 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The whisky is made exclusively from Scottish barley that is dried directly over a peat flame. Once the grains have been dried, they are milled and mashed with water drawn from Mary's Well before being fermented for nearly four days in washbacks made of Oregon Pine. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled twice, first through one of Tobermory's copper-pot wash stills, and again through one of Tobermory's copper-pot spirit stills.After distillation, Ledaig Aged 18 Years Single Malt Scotch Whisky is matured in oak barrels for nearly two decades before being finished in Spanish sherry casks, a practice not typically associated with such heavily-peated whiskies. As a result, the whisky has a bold aroma of tobacco smoke, cooked bacon and sherry wine. The palate brightens up with notes of orange zest, along heavier notes of chocolate, anise and cloves, and leads to a finish marked by smoldering coals and dark coffee.

The whisky is made exclusively from Scottish barley that is dried directly over a peat flame. About Ledaig Limited Release (Batch #2) 18 Year Old Scotch Whisky
Ledaig Limited Release Batch #2 is made exclusively from Scottish barley that is dried directly over a peat flame. Once the grains have been dried, they are milled and mashed with water drawn from Mary's Well before being fermented for nearly four days in washbacks made of Oregon Pine. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled twice, first through one of Tobermory's copper-pot wash stills, and again through one of Tobermory's copper-pot spirit stills. About Ledaig
Situated on the Isle of Mull, the quaint village of Tobermory was founded in 1788 by fishermen who began using it as a resting place during their fishing expeditions in the Sound of Mull. The name Tobermory is derived from the ancient Gaelic word meaning "Mary's Well," and refers to a nearby well on the Isle of Mull that was dedicated to the Virgin Mary centuries ago by Irish monks who lived on the island. In 1798 — just ten years after fishermen began using the port of Tobermory as a resting place — John Sinclair founded Tobermory Brewery and Distillery.Today, Tobermory Distillery is the last remaining distillery on the Isle of Mull, and one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. It produces two distinctive styles of whisky: Tobermory Single Malt Scotch Whisky, an unpeated single malt whisky that reflects the heritage and culture of the Isle of Mull, and Ledaig Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a heavily peated single malt whisky that reflects the distillery's location in the Inner Hebrides archipelago.

About Linkwood-Glenlivet 26 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Cadenhead Bottling)
Linkwood Distillery is a whisky distillery in Elgin in the Speyside region. The distillery was built in 1821 by Peter Brown, equipped with two stills, beginning production in 1825 with potential output of 4,500 liters per year. The distillery remained operated by James Walker (who had previously worked at Arberlour) until Brown's death in 1868, after which the distillery got under came under the control of his son, William Brown.Between 1872 and 1873 William Brown, revamped the distillery with the help of architect Methven, after replacing the old facility at the same location, the new distillery was equipped with a capacity of 227,000 liters per year. After William Brown’s death in 1893, Linkwood-Glenlivet was created by the Browns family in 1898, adopting the famous moniker in an attempt to cash in on the success of Glenlivet. The distillery was then further extended to a capacity of 454,000 liters per year.
After changing hands several times, the company is now owned by the industry giant Diageo, who added two extra pairs of stills and tripled whisky production at Linkwood. They produce blends for Johnnie Walker, Haig, Bells and White Horse.
Linkwood is now a workhorse of the Diageo machine producing whisky for blends such as Johnnie Walker, Haig, Bells and White Horse with only a very small 2% used for single malts. This 26-year-old Linkwood is from independent bottler Cadenhead's as a part of their small batch series. This whisky was produced in 1989 and bottled in 2016.

Eighth generation Beam family member Freddie Noe comes from a long line of legendary distillers. In 2017 he achieved his vision of making his own line of whiskey, launching Little Book Whiskey. With over 220 years of tradition on his shoulders, he had some pretty large shoes to fill.Named in honor of the nickname Freddie’s grandfather Booker gave him: Little Book. This annual whiskey series features new, unique blends every year—his first batch of liquid gold was released in 2017 Little Book Chapter 1: The Easy Blended Straight Whiskey. Uncut, unfiltered and always one-of-a-kind, each small batch is a limited release, allowing Freddie innovate and explore the limitless potential of flavor.
Little Book Chapter 3 is the first Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey in the Little Book line from Freddie Noe. “The Road Home” references the road that I travel to and from on a regular basis, the same road my grandfather, Booker, traveled back when he used to work here at the distillery,” says Noe.
Little Book Chapter 3 is a blend of four barrel-strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskeys, one from each brand of the original Small Batch Bourbon Collection created by Freddie Noe’s grandfather Booker Noe in the early 1990s. The limited-edition blend consists of a nine-year-old Knob Creek and Basil Hayden’s Bourbons, an 11-year-old Booker’s Bourbon and a 12-year-old Baker’s Bourbon.
“The four liquids that I chose to go into this batch of Little Book are from the original small batch collection that my grandfather, Booker, created,” says Noe. The eighth-generation distiller tinkered with 57 different recipes before landing on the final blend, recipe number 51: a palate loaded with complexity from the vanilla, wood and caramel notes from the Knob Creek and Booker’s Bourbons, balanced by the “spiciness” of Basil Hayden’s. The Baker’s Bourbon imparts a lingering, warm and sweet finish.
